湯梨浜学園中学校の生徒を迎え，研究紹介と国際交流

10 月 25 日，倉吉中央ロータリー クラブが主催する「科学するこころ教室 2020」という企画で，湯梨浜学園の 生徒 19 名が当研究室の見学に訪れました．彼等彼女等は実験室を巡り， 我々は研究を紹介しました．最後に留学生と交流する時間を持ちました．
中村教授の講演を皮切りに，5 人づつ 4 グループに分かれ，研究室を 回っていただき，研究機器に触れながら現在進行中の研究を紹介しまし た．最後は博士課程の留学生たちと交流の場をもち，和やかな雰囲気で， 見学を終えました．この様子を以下に写真で示します．
生徒の一人は超純水にて手を洗った折，ぬるっとすると感じたそうです． 水道水と超純水の微量元素を分析しこれらを比較したところ，超純水に はミネラル成分が少ないことがわかりました．このことがぬるっとする 感覚を説明するに違いないと，こころを科学で埋めていました．
初めての防護服に身を包み，やや無愛 想な我々スタッフに対し緊張した面持ちの生徒たちでしたが，次第に 打ち解けました．走査型電子顕微鏡 (SEM) で見た 10000 倍の風景や， 顕微鏡下の隕石試料に宇宙空間を思い馳せ，研究現場の日常を体感して いただけたと思います．これを機に ``科学するこころ'' を養い，若者たちが科学的な思考を身につけ，我々の研究哲学を体現す る人材に成長していただけたら幸いです．
Students from Yurihama Gakuen middle school visited PML, sponsered by the Central Kurayoshi Rotary Club

On October 25th, 19 students from Yurihama Gakuen visited our laboratory, sponsored by the Central Kurayoshi Rotary Club. The day started with Professor Nakamura's lecture. The students were then divided into 4 groups of 5 people and began a tour of the laboratory. At the end of the day, the middle school students were able to interact with doctoral students at PML, which resulted in the day finishing with a pleasant atmosphere.
At first, the students were nervous, dressed in protective clothing for the first time. However, they gradually became more comfortable with the observation of natural rock samples and through playing with the equipment. We are always happy to receive guests and allow them to experience the atmosphere of research. It is especially insightful and stimulating for guests to actually touch the scientific instruments, such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and observe meteorites or natural rocks with the microscope. We hope that this represents an opportunity for the middle school students to become passionate about science and one day become world leaders in their scientific disapline.
